ATL ✈️ LHR ✈️ DXB ✈️ DPS ✈️ NRT ✈️ ATL Cost: ATL-LHR 30k AAmiles + $5.60 LHR-DXB 20k AAMiles + $230.70 DXB-DPS Emirates $644.33 DPS-NRT-ATL 56k Delta miles + $47.23 Background: My sisterfriend planned an eat, pray, love group trip to Bali. Looking at the flights I saw options with layovers in various cities. Instead of layovers I decided to book one way flights to see friends and actually have time in the cities. My preferred airline is delta. All of my banking and even hotel miles convert to Delta SKYMILES. However, I was on an American Airlines flight to Antigua last year, they announced a promotion on the flight that if you opened an account you would get 70,000 bonus miles. I checked their routes for Indonesia and decided to take advantage. I have enough miles left on both carriers for my one way flight from DXB-DPS but I chose instead to purchase via Emirates so that I can be on the same connecting flight with my sister and her crew and take advantage of the prearranged transfer. And besides why miss the opportunity to fly the esteemed Emirates? (I signed up to get miles for my purchase and paid with my AMEX so that means Emirates miles and delta miles) So always collect miles they add up!
